Riverside Prep receives “all clear”, school resumes Monday after E. coli scare

ORO GRANDE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Classes at Riverside Preparatory School will resume Monday after officials said they were given the all-clear notice after a near-by well tested positive for E.coli Thursday morning.

According to a Saturday post on the school’s official Facebook page, all water restrictions for the Oro Grande community have been lifted and school will resume its regular schedule on Monday, March 11.

The district made the decision to cancel Friday school at Riverside Prep after learning of a nearby well that tested positive for E. coli bacteria at about 10:30 am, on Thursday, March 7, 2019, officials said.

After receiving the notice described as a “standard precautionary procedure”, school faculty took no chances and immediately shut off drinking fixtures and sinks on all three Riverside Prep campuses.

“The well that triggered the boil water notice has been temporarily removed from service,” officials said. “The water quality sampling results taken within the water distribution system before and after issuing the boil water notice have all come back negative for any harmful bacteria; therefore, you may resume normal consumptive uses of the potable water that is supplied to your home.”

Additionally, further testing was conducted at the Riverside Prep campuses and all results came back negative and safe for drinking.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we addressed this matter and took steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday!
