HESPERIA-(VVNG.com): A Riverside man is behind bars after leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit early Friday morning. Daniel Pereyra, 26, who was reported missing and armed on Wednesday, was driving 2014 RAV4 just before 5:30 a.m. near the area of Main Street and Cottonwood Avenue. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, which was speeding and passing vehicles in an unsafe manner.
The driver failed to yield and the deputies pursued the vehicle down Main Street. Pereyra failed to stop at traffic signals and proceeded onto the 15 freeway northbound. The pursuit reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
Authorities said that the pursuit continued for 54 miles with the suspect weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed endangering other drivers. Pereyra eventually exited the freeway at Ghost Town Road and continued down Yermo Road where he stopped at a dead end and complied with deputies commands.
Pereyra was taken into custody without further incident and a .40 caliber semi-automatic was located in the passenger seat of the vehicle. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for evading with disregard for safety. Pereyra is scheduled for an arraignment hearing at the Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday, February 17th.
