Riverside man arrested for arson in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Authorities have arrested a Riverside man in connection with arson in Hesperia early Sunday morning.

At about 3:16 am, deputies responded to the 11400 block of Fashion Court in regards to a Hispanic male adult grabbing trash from a trash can and starting a fire with it across the street, officials told Victor Valley News.

Deputy Espiritu arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect identified as, Jose Guadalupe Rangel, 29.

Sheriff’s Service Specialist Edgar Moran said the suspect was in a field by a wooden electrical post that was on fire.

“Rangel matched the description given by witnesses and a lighter was found in Rangel’s front right pant pocket,” stated Moran.

Rangel was arrested and booked into High Desert Detention Center for PC451(D) Arson. His bail is set at $50,000 and is scheduled for arraignment in a Victorville courtroom on January 23, 2019.
