Risky Move? Man Leans Through Sunroof While SUV Drives Through Cajon Pass
CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man was spotted standing upright through the sunroof of a moving SUV while traveling along the 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass.
The unusual moment was captured in a video by commuter Tony Vargas Rodriguez, which showed the man appearing to record himself or the surrounding view using a smartphone. The vehicle, a dark-colored Honda SUV, was traveling in the fast lane when the man popped up through the roof, holding his phone in the air.
The video shows the man remained upright through the sunroof for approximately 40 seconds during the clip. It’s unknown how long he had been in that position before or after the recording began.
The behavior quickly sparked debate online. While some commenters reacted with humor — calling the man a “tourist” or suggesting he was filming for TikTok — others raised concerns about the safety risks of such actions, especially on a busy mountain pass like this one.
Standing through a sunroof while a vehicle is in motion is not only dangerous, but also a violation of California vehicle codes, which require all occupants to remain seated and properly restrained while on the road.
At this time, it’s unclear if law enforcement was made aware or if any citations were issued in connection with the incident.
