APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Police have identified the solo motorcycle rider that died in a crash Saturday morning as Michael Anthony Hoffman, age 25, a resident of Apple Valley.
On Saturday, August 11th, at approximately 7:01 am, deputies of the Apple Valley Sheriff’s station were dispatched to a single motorcycle traffic accident on South Road just east of Quinnault Road.
The reporting party, a nearby resident who was driving on South Road came upon a man down in the roadway near a wrecked motorcycle.
“The reporting party called 911 and attempted to perform CPR on the man with no result,” authorities said in a press release.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene minutes later and pronounced the man deceased.
The San Bernardino County Coroner Division personnel arrived at the scene, and at the conclusion of the investigation identified the victim to be Michael Anthony Hoffman.
Based on evidence at the scene, investigators were able to conclude there were likely no other vehicles or persons involved in the collision.
The collision appeared to have occurred sometime overnight. Hoffman appeared to lose control of the motorcycle while traveling east on South Road at unknown speeds just after the asphalt roadway ended into the dirt.
“Hoffman appeared to have traveled into a dried, sunken, vehicle mud track in the dirt portion of the roadway and lost control,” officials said.
As a result, Hoffman was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. Investigators are seeking additional witnesses to this collision.
