ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) Authorities arrested a 36-year-old registered sex offender for threatening several young girls at a pool, authorities said.
On Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 4:40 p.m., Deputy Lauren Abernathy was dispatched to a 911 call for suspicious circumstances at an apartment complex in the 11200 block of Lee Avenue in Adelanto.
Deputy Abernathy’s investigation revealed the suspect, Wendell Pellum, jumped the fence to the pool area where multiple children were playing.
According to authorities, Pellum made sexually explicit comments and threats to several young girls between the ages of 8 to 14 years old.
“He grabbed one of the girls by the arm and pulled her towards him,” stated Sheriff’s spokeswoman Staci Parks. “Pellum threatened to harm the children and their families if they told anyone.”
The suspect left the area on foot prior to the arrival of deputies and was located by deputies a short time later.
Through investigation, deputies determined Pellum did not live in the apartment complex and a registered sex offender currently on parole.
Pellum was arrested for PC 647.6, annoying and molesting a child and for violating his parole. He was booked into High Desert Detention Center and is being held without bail on a parole hold.
