(VVNG.com): On November 30th at 2:11 p.m. a civil dispute escalated into an arrest being made for attempted murder. The incident stemmed from a dispute over a property at 713 Hwy 395 in Red Mountain. Strather Wise, 46 from Red Mountain threw kerosene on Shawn Hawk, 39 from Canyon Country then as backing up poured it on the ground in a line and proceeded to light it on fire. Hawk was able to quickly step away from the burning kerosene and was not burned. The fire did cause a large fire in the front yard at 713 Highway 395.

Wise, walked to a nearby residence where he kicked open the door and proceeded to steal two shotguns. He then fired toward 713 Hwy 395 where Hawk as well as some other people were standing. No one was injured by the gunfire.
Neighbor, Greg Thompson, 56 heard the gunfire and saw the smoke, which caused him to go outside to investigate the situation. Wise confronted Thompson and the two argued leading Wise to hit Thompson in the arm with the shotgun. Wise walked to the middle of Hwy 395 then turned and fired the shotgun at Thompson, who was about 15 feet away. The gunshot struck Thompson hitting him in his lower abdomen. Wise pointed the shotgun at the cars stopped on Hwy 395 as well as witnesses who were outside of their residences. He ran north on Hwy 395, where he hid the shotgun inside a residence. He was contacted at the residence by law enforcement, arrested and transported to jail.
Thompson was airlifted to a local trauma center where he received treatment for his injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and deputies from Kern County Sheriff’s Department.
