Rain, fog, and holiday traffic along the I-15 in the cajon pass Monday

CAJON PASS, Calif, (VVNG.com) — A traffic camera at the top of the summit in the Cajon Pass is showing rain and a layer of fog blanketing the area.

As of 4:40 pm on Monday, December 23, there are no major accidents or restrictions to report along the I-15 freeway through the Cajon Pass.

Motorists traveling on the northbound are experiencing stop-and-go traffic. Southbound traffic is jammed and backed up for several miles.

According to the National Weather Service San Diego Office, as of 3:00 pm Monday, the mountain community of Wrightwood has received the most amount of snowfall with 9.5″ followed by Big Bear Resorts at 6″.

The NWS said to expect isolated showers mainly on the coast and valleys on Tuesday. “A winter storm will move through the region Wednesday night into Thursday bringing another round of rain and mountain snow,” stated the agency.

According to the latest forecast models on Monday evening, locations above 4000 feet could experience a white Christmas during the late afternoon of Christmas Day and into the night.
