Rain and fog in the cajon pass Wednesday; chains required in Wrightwood

WEDNESDAY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Motorists traveling southbound on the I-15 freeway through the pass are reporting rain, wind, and the thick fog near the top of the pass Wednesday morning.

The fog at the summit is causing southbound traffic to slow-down near Ranchero Road. As of 9:00 am there were no accidents reported in the pass.

Most of the fog dissipates after Highway 138.

People planning a trip to the mountain community of Wrightwood are advised of R2 chain conditions. Caltrans has chain control setup at State Route 2, just west of Scrub Mountain.

According to CHP Victorville, R2: Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. (Note: For wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices.

At 8:21 am, Victor Valley Transit said Route 21 was currently halted in the Wrightwood Mountain areas due to heavy snowfall.

Please check back for updates as they become available.
