YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A pursuit that began in Apple Valley Sunday night ended with shots fired and at least one person dead in Yucca Valley.

It started at about 10:00 pm in the area of Central and Bear Valley Roads on September 29, 2019.

Video submitted to VVNG showed a white semi with no trailer driving through residential streets while as sheriff’s helicopter, and dozens of patrol vehicles followed.

The pursuit made its way through Lucerne Valley and continued south onto State Route 247 towards Yucca Valley, before eventually ending on Highway 62 near Pinon Drive.

Shahanee Diaz, who was behind the pursuit, suddenly found herself in front of it when the semi turned onto Highway 62 and made an aggressive U-turn.

That’s when Diaz pulled out her cellphone and captured video of the sheriff’s patrol vehicle being dragged by the semi, while at the same time, over a dozen shots rang out.

Sheriff’s officials have not released any details about the pursuit or confirmed if more than one suspect was shot and killed.

Diaz believes she saw two people inside the cab of the semi during the pursuit.

29 Palms Highway is closed at Fairway Drive and Camino Del Cielo Trail for the investigation.

This is a developing story and additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
