Public’s help is needed to ID one of the six victims killed in the desert near Adelanto

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance to identify one of the six victims killed in a remote area of the desert outside of Adelanto.

The individual is a Hispanic male, believed to be aged between 30 and 60, height at 5’5” with a weight of 142 lbs. He possesses medium-length, curly black hair and brown eyes.

Notably, he bears a substantial surgical scar on the front right forearm, extending to the upper arm, along with a surgical plate present in the right forearm.

Additionally, there is a prominent linear scar on the rear right elbow and forearm, an irregularly shaped scar on the front left forearm/elbow region, and a linear scar on the right thigh.

To aid in identification, the person also has a tattoo featuring the word “Gio” or “Gia” on the left side of the chest.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at approximately 8:16 p.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call from Franklin Noel Bonilla. Franklin stated he had been shot but was unable to give his location.

Sheriff’s Dispatch determined the call was made from the area of Lessing Avenue and Shadow Mountain Road in the unincorporated area of Adelanto.

Sheriff’s personnel immediately responded and upon arrival, five deceased individuals were located. A short time later, Franklin was located deceased nearby.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, responded and assumed the investigation. It was determined the six victims had been shot. Additionally, four of the victims were partially burned.

Through extensive investigation, investigators determined the victims had arranged to meet at the location for a marijuana transaction.

The five suspects identified as, Toniel Baez-Duarte, 34, a resident of Apple Valley, Mateo Baez-Duarte, 24, a resident of Apple Valley, Jose Nicolas Hernandez Sarabia, 33, a resident of Adelanto, Jose Gregorio Hernandez Sarabia, 34 a resident of Adelanto, and Jose Manuel Burgos Parra, 26, resident of Adelanto, arrived at the location and for reasons still under investigation shot the six victims.

Multiple search warrants were served during the investigation, several firearms and additional evidence was located. On January 28, 2024, the suspects were located and arrested. All suspects were booked for PC 187-Murder and are being held without bail.

Authorities identified four of the victims as:

  • Baldemar Mondragon-Albarran, 34-year-old Hispanic Male, Resident of Adelanto,
  • Franklin Noel Bonilla, 22-year-old Hispanic Male, Resident of Hesperia,
  • Kevin Dariel Bonilla, 25-year-old Hispanic Male, Resident of Hesperia,
  • Jose Ruelas-Calderon, 45-year-old Hispanic Male, Resident of El Mirage.
  • The fifth victim in this case has already been identified, however, the release of identity is pending notification of next of kin.
  • Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance to identify the sixth victim in this case.

UPDATE – Victim five has been identified as 47-year-old Narciso Sandoval. Victim six has been identified as 41-year-old Adrian Ochoa-Salgado.
