Possible Assault in Bed of Moving Pickup Truck Sparks Concerns in Victorville (Video)

VICTORVILLE, Calif ( – Footage captured a troubling scene, as a motorist observed a man in a mask and gloves allegedly assaulting another individual, believed to be a woman, in the bed of a moving pickup truck in Victorville.

The incident was captured on Friday, January 12, 2024, around 2:45 p.m. on Palmdale Road near Aster Road.

Describing the event, the witness said, “at first, I saw something fly out of the pickup truck, and that caught my attention to the bed of the truck, where I saw a struggle taking place.”

The 17-year-old witness said that the struggle took place for about a minute prior to her recording the video, she noticed that the truck would dramatically slow down whenever another car would get behind it, further raising her suspicions.

“Then I noticed that person being assaulted had long crimped hair, so I suspect it was a girl or a woman, which scares me because around this time kids were walking home from school, and it looks like someone was being forced to stay down.”

She also mentioned that two white male adults in the front seat, the driver and passenger, seemed to be in their late 50s.

After maneuvering behind the truck and reaching for her cellphone, the pickup truck decelerated significantly and veered off the road, forcing her to pass them up. She said they continued driving towards Pear Blossom Highway.

Deeply unsettled, the witness promptly reported the incident to the Phelan Police Station, only to face frustration over the lack of immediate action. Despite providing the video evidence, the response from the authorities left the witness dissatisfied.

“The lady at the front desk said the officers were busy and that she would have someone call me,” the witness said. “Two hours later, I received the call. However, they didn’t request the video. They only asked for my account of the incident and stated that they would enter the plate into the system and investigate only if it falls within their jurisdiction.”

Following the circulation of the video on social media, more concerns have been voiced.

On Sunday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said they are looking into the incident.

As the investigation unfolds, concerns linger over the well-being of the individual involved, and the community awaits further developments.

“I would rather find out this was some sick prank, rather than to have police find another body,” the witness told VVNG.
