Police warning public of attempted kidnapping in Rancho Cucamonga

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department is warning the public about an alleged attempted kidnapping involving a child Thursday afternoon.

It happened at about 5:24 pm, on Thursday, September 13, 2018, in the 8300 block of Tanglewood Court in Rancho Cucamonga.

According to a sheriff’s news release,  a 9-year-old girl was picking flowers in the greenbelt area of Tanglewood Court and Bear Creek Avenue when an unknown suspect dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask took the victim by her wrist and led her away from the area towards the community pool.

“She said the suspect let go of her after becoming startled and fled the area. The victim ran to a neighbor’s home who called 9-1-1,” stated the release.

Police conducted a thorough search of the area along with the assistance of a sheriff’s helicopter, however, the suspect was not located.
