APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Authorities are searching for a motorcyclist who evaded deputies after a wild pursuit Wednesday night in Apple Valley.
It happened at about 10:13 pm when Sergeant James Evans attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black motorcycle speeding near Central Avenue and State Highway 18. The rider failed to yield leading deputies on a pursuit into Lucerne Valley and back into the town of Apple Valley.
According to a sheriff’s news release, the rider matched reports from an earlier officer safety bulletin about an armed subject.
Earlier in the day, deputies received a report of a subject riding a black motorcycle on Bear Valley Road. The rider was reported to be armed with a handgun and or several ammunition magazines, officials said.
A responding patrol unit struck loose sand at Highway 18 and Cody Avenue and left the roadway. The deputy was not injured.

Deputies utilized Sheriff’s Aviation to safely track the motorcycle, however, the suspect was able to elude all units and escaped near Highway 18 and Mesquite. The suspect was wearing a black helmet, a black vest, and was riding a black high-performance street motorcycle with a loud exhaust.
It is not known if the suspect who fled from Sergeant Evans is the same suspect from the earlier call.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Sergeant James Evans at the Apple Valley Station @ 760-240-7400.
