UPDATE: Inmate who escaped from Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville arrested

UPDATE: Officials confirmed in a press release Saturday that Daniel Zalduondo was located at a residence on Tablerock Lane in Victorville and was arrested without incident on July 27, 2019, at approximately 2:30 p.m. According to a witness, several occupants inside the home were detained and questioned by police.

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Police are actively searching for an inmate who escaped from Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville.

Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said the inmate, identified as Daniel Zalduondo, was being treated at the hospital and escaped this afternoon.

“There is no evidence to suggest that he is armed, has taken any hostages or injured anyone during the incident,” stated Bachman.

Zalduondo was in custody for a parole violation and possession of stolen property, officials said.

An active search is underway with deputies, K9’s and a Sheriff’s helicopter. Anyone with information regarding Zalduondo’s whereabouts should contact the Sheriff’s dispatch at (760)956-5001.

Traffic on Hesperia Road is currently being detoured between Forrest Avenue and Union Street.

Victor Valley News Group members reported the hospital was placed on lockdown, however, hospital security refused to provide any information.
