Police arrest suspect in fatal shooting of 25-year-old Barstow man

BARSTOW, Calif. ( — Authorities arrested a suspect who shot and killed a 25-year-old man during a verbal altercation at a home in Barstow.

On February 10, 2024, at around 2:11 AM, the Barstow Police Department responded to a call about a shooting at a residence in the 1200 block of Joshua Tree Drive.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 25-year-old Barstow resident Ryan Dazzi near the front door, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The suspect, identified as Barstow resident Patrick Robert Dull, 50, was detained without incident by patrol officers at the scene.

Emergency aid was immediately provided to Dazzi by Barstow Fire Protection District and Desert Ambulance personnel.

Dazzi was then transported to Barstow Community Hospital and later airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries. Unfortunately, despite all life-saving efforts, Dazzi succumbed to his injuries.

The Barstow Police Department’s Detective Division took charge of the investigation. Detectives and Evidence Technicians processed the incident location, interviewed witnesses, and gathered additional evidence.

The investigation revealed that a minor verbal altercation between Dazzi and Dull had escalated, leading to the tragic shooting.

Patrick Dull has been booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Barstow Jail on charges of PC 187(a)-Murder. He is being held without bail and is scheduled for a hearing in a Victorville court room on February 14th at 8:30 am.

The Barstow Police Department urges anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
