BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The California Highway Patrol, Barstow Area will be conducting a Sobriety/Driver License Checkpoint in the town of Lenwood, CA on May 26, 2018 from 8:00 pm – 2am.
The primary objective of a Sobriety Checkpoint is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist on highways by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of drunk driving related accidents and/or prior arrests.
A Sobriety Checkpoint is an effective and proven method to remove drunk drivers from local highways. They also help raise awareness of this important driving safety issues while augmenting regular patrol operations.
The Checkpoint will be staffed by uniformed officers from the Barstow CHP office who are trained in detecting alcohol or drug impaired drivers. Officers will also be equipped with handheld, blood alcohol testing devices, which provide an accurate measure of blood alcohol concentration.
Drivers who are determined to be under the influence of alcohol and or drugs will be physically arrested and their vehicles towed away.
