Pinon Hills Teacher Starts GoFundMe After Daughter, Son Diagnosed With Serious Illnesses

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A local Victorville family is facing an incredibly difficult time after their daughter was diagnosed with leukemia and their youngest child with a heart arrhythmia.

Mrs. Reyna Chambless, the mother of the two children, is a fourth-grade teacher at Pinon Hills Elementary in Snowline School District, and her husband works as a health tech, connecting veterans with their healthcare provider.

Before her diagnosis, their daughter worked as a certified surgical tech at the Physician Surgery Center in Victorville, where she assisted surgeons in the operating room.

Both parents have been left with no other option than to apply for FMLA, stepping away from their respective careers indefinitely.

Mrs. Chambless states, “As parents, we have had to step away from work and are currently on FMLA so we can be present for our children during these life-threatening moments. Being there for them is not optional—it’s everything…This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do—ask for help.”

Per the GoFundMe, Mrs. Chambless describes, “…At the same time [our daughter, Isabel, was diagnosed with Leukemia], our 16-year-old son experienced a terrifying medical emergency when his heart suddenly stopped. He has since been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia and had to undergo surgery to have a pacemaker placed.”

Those who feel moved to make a donation toward the cause directly, without participating in the raffle, are invited to go to the following GoFundMe link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/one-family-three-battles
