Pilot Fire Now 100% Contained
HESPERIA, Calif:(VVNG.com)- As of 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16th the Pilot Fire is now 100% contained, officials said.
Over a 9 day period, the fire chewed through 8,110 acres over. During that time 0 structures were lost.
According to Public Information officer Mark Pebles with the Incident Management Team 3, one firefighter sustained a non-life threatening injury.
The Pilot Fire started at about 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, August 7th near the Miller Canyon OHV area off of Highway 138. The fire was named Pilot Fire due to its location between Pilot Rock Ridge and State Highway 173 in Hesperia.
Fires are usually named for the area in which they start – a geographical location, local landmark, street, lake, mountain, peak, etc. Quickly naming the fire provides responding fire resources with an additional locator, and allows fire officials to track and prioritize incidents by name.
All evacuations have been lifted and all evacuation centers have ben closed. Although the fire is out, firefighters continue to work in the area, please drive with caution and be alert to your surroundings.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
