Pilot Fire: Burns Over 6,000 Acres; Thousands Evacuated

HESPERIA, Calif :(VVNG.com)- Mandatory and voluntary evacuations have impacted over 4,700 homes with 500 of those homes being in the city of Hesperia, authorities said.
According to the latest reports, as of 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8th the Pilot fire has grown to 6,298 acres with only 6% containment and 843 firefighters assigned.
Arrowhead Lake Road between HWY 173 extended to Ranchero Road remains under mandatory evacuations.
The Pilot Fire started at about 12:10 pm on Sunday August 7 near the Miller Canyon OHV area off of Highway 138.
USFS, San Bernardino County Fire, #SBCSD and CalFire are in unified command, dedicating every possible resource to the containment of this fire. Firefighters have been working around the clock, along with two #SBCSD water-dropping helicopters to contain the fire.
