APPLE VALLEY: (VVNG) – Looking for some fun, free summer entertainment? Swing on by the Apple Valley Civic Center Amphitheater June 26 when Phat Cat Swinger launches this year’s Victor Valley Heritage Medical Group Sunset Concert Series with their high-energy music from 6 to 9 p.m.
This 10-piece band has been called one of the best bands to dance to in the Los Angeles and surrounding areas, mixing the classic sounds of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin with the jumping guitar and brass tunes of the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Phat Cat Swinger has opened for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, performed shows with Cherry Poppin’ Daddies and The Coasters, and appeared in videos for Christina Aguilera and The Jonas Brothers.
The Town of Apple Valley is the only venue in the high desert offering free weekly concerts every Thursday night. The Sunset Concert Series was voted “Best Live Music” in this year’s “Best of the Desert” Daily Press reader’s poll.
The Sunset Concert Series features food vendors, a beer garden, live music and dancing. The park has inclined lawn seating for more than 1,500 people, so concert goers should bring blankets or portable chairs. Apple Valley loves animals, but pets are not allowed in the concert venue. Smoking is prohibited in all Town parks, including our concerts.
The Sunset Concert Series will continue Thursdays through August 14. The entertainment line-up for the rest of the summer includes:
- July 10 – Silverados (Country)
- July 17 – Pop Gun Rerun (80’s)
- July 24 – Big Fat Steve Band (Rockabilly & Country)
- July 31 – Phoenix Rising (Classic Rock)
- August 7 – Latin Express (Variety & Latin)
