Peltbeam Brings Free High-Speed Wireless Internet To Areas Across Adelanto

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) –– The City of Adelanto announced the successful completion of the initial deployment of patented wireless fiber technology by Peltbeam, Inc., bringing free outdoor wireless coverage to select public and residential areas throughout the city.

According to the announcement, the Newport Beach-based technology company is utilizing “proprietary WiFi repeater technology” to deliver high-speed wireless connectivity to underserved and disadvantaged areas “without the need for costly and time-intensive fiber trenching, engineering, or permitting.”

City officials said the deployment represents “a first-of-its-kind deployment in the United States” and is intended to help close the digital divide in areas where traditional broadband infrastructure has been difficult or too expensive to implement.

Installation sites in the initial phase include Adelanto City Hall, the Public Works building, the skate park, the community center, the senior center adjacent to City Hall, and several surrounding neighborhoods.

The city said expanded connectivity at the community center will support “digital programming, educational workshops, and access to online services for residents of all ages,” while internet access at the senior center will help seniors “stay connected with family, access telehealth services, and participate in virtual activities that enhance quality of life.”

A major feature of the project is the installation of solar-powered repeater nodes designed for off-grid and energy-constrained environments. One of the nodes was installed at the skate park adjacent to City Hall and includes a solar-powered street light, a 24-hour security camera, and a wireless fiber node providing free outdoor internet access for visitors.

“Importantly, this project was delivered at no cost to the City’s General Fund, reflecting a fiscally responsible approach to expanding critical digital infrastructure while directly advancing digital equity objectives,” according to the announcement.
