Man injured while helping to push a vehicle on Highway 18

LUCERNE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man critically injured in an accident involving two vehicles was airlifted to a trauma center Friday morning.
CHP Public Information Officer Michael Mumford said at about 11:30 am, a Ford Windstar van stopped on SR-18, south of Old Woman Springs Road to assist a motorist who was out of gas.
According to Officer Mumford, “one of the passengers in the van, a 26-year-old male from Lucerne Valley, used himself as a “buffer” between the van and the disabled vehicle while they attempted to push the disabled vehicle to the gas station, utilizing the van as the push vehicle.”
Mumford said the male fell from in-between the vehicles and was projected across the roadway where he received moderate injuries. The male was not hit or run over by either vehicle.
The male was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment. An update on his condition was not available.
