
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) An SUV struck and killed a pedestrian who was jaywalking early Wednesday morning.
Sheriff’s officials received a call about 2:16 a.m. from an SUV driver saying he had just struck a pedestrian on El Evado Road.
The SUV was traveling southbound on El Evado just south of Palmdale Road when the driver thought he hit something and pulled over. When the driver checked, he saw a man had been struck.
The pedestrian, a Hispanic male adult, was pronounced deceased on scene, officials said.
The driver, a 36-year-old Victorville resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
El Evado Road was closed between Palmdale and Anacapa Roads. Deputy Jeffrey Dean with the Victorville Sheriff’s Station said it will remain closed until approximately 8 a.m.
The man who died had not been identified as of Wednesday morning.
Officials said the driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
