The suspect ditched the U-Haul less than a mile away

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) A woman was struck and critically injured by a suspect who attempted to carjack a U-Haul from a motel parking lot.

“At approximately 1:45 p.m. today, [Deputies] responded to a call of a possible car jacking that just occurred,” stated Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez.

When deputies arrived at the Rodeway Inn motel located at 15366 La Paz Drive in Victorville, they located a female pedestrian lying on the ground with critical injuries.

The victim, who witnesses say appeared lifeless as she laid in the parking lot, was transported to Victor Valley Global Medical Center. Sheriff’s officials did not confirm the womans condition.

A large tree was struck by the U-Haul as it drove out of the parking lot, Rodriguez confirmed. Rodriguez also indicated there were more than one victim, however, she did not provide further information.

The male suspect fled the scene in the U-Haul and ditched it less than a mile away on the 15000 block of Culver Road near Joshua Street.

A Sheriff’s K-9 unit responded to assist with locating the suspect, however, Rodriguez said he had not been captured as of 6:00 p.m.
