Pedestrian hit by car Halloween night in Apple Valley critically injured

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A pedestrian walking near a Trunk or Treat event was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle Halloween night.

It happened at about 7:05 pm, on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in the area of Bear Valley and Central Roads in Apple Valley.

Firefighters with the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to the scene and requested a medical helicopter.

The patient was transported by ground ambulance to the football field at Apple Valley High School to an awaiting medical helicopter. According to witnesses at the scene, his injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

Witnessed said the pedestrian was either going or coming from the Trunk or Treat event at the recycling center. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian was said to of had children inside at the time of the incident. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Eastbound Bear Valley Road is being detoured onto Central Road as authorities conduct the investigation to determine the cause.

Sheriff’s officials have not confirmed the age of the victim and have not released any details. This is a developing story and additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
