Pedestrian Critically Injured After hit-and-run in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) Deputies are conducting a major accident investigation after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene Thursday afternoon.
At about 11:30 a.m. dispatch received multiple reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian in the area of Santa Fe Avenue East and Mission Street in Hesperia.
Per scanner reports, a blue sedan traveling on the wrong side of the road struck a pedestrian and fled the scene northbound on Santa Fe Avenue towards Main Street.
At this time, it’s unclear if the pedestrian was on foot or on a bicycle. The pedestrian was reportedly not breathing and transported to Desert Valley Hospital with unknown injuries.
The suspect vehicle, a 1992 Chevrolet Corsica was located by a Sheriff’s Deputy a few minutes after the initial report in the area of C Avenue and Yucca Street.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jackie Chambers told Victor Valley News they have one person detained for questioning.
Initial reports indicated the pedestrian may have been a child, however, we are awaiting official confirmation from the Hesperia sheriff’s department.
Motorist are being advised to avoid the area of Santa Fe Ave E between El Centro and Mission. The Major Accident Investigation Team will have the road will be closed for several hours.
