Parents Arrested and Kids Removed After Crime

HEMET: Deputies from the Hemet Station responded to call of a male armed with a knife who forced his way into a home on the 41000 block of Whittier Avenue, in East Hemet, on December 30, 2013, at approximately 12:00 a.m.
According to a press release the occupant of the home armed himself with a handgun and held the suspect at bay until deputies arrived at the scene.
The suspect, 32-year-old Jay Dossey, was taken into custody without incident and told deputies he believed his family was in danger at their residence located on the same block.
Deputies checked the residence and found the suspect’s wife and three small children unharmed. They also saw evidence that numerous shots had been fired within the residence while the suspect’s wife and children were present. Several weapons including handguns and a semi-automatic rifle were discovered and taken as evidence. Narcotic paraphernalia was also found inside.
Further investigation revealed both Jay Dossey and his wife, 35-year-old Kelee Dossey, had previous felony convictions prohibiting them from possessing firearms. Both Jay and Kelee Dossey were arrested for weapons violations and child endangerment.
Jay Dossey’s bail is currently set at $500,000. Kelee Dossey’s bail is yet to be determined. Child Protective Services removed the children from the home and is conducting a separate investigation.
