VICTOR VALLEY:(VVNG.com)- On Friday, July 25, 2014, 30 Law Enforcement Officers Conducted a SMASH Operation throughout the Victor Valley. The streets of the Victor Valley area were saturated with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s as well as officers from allied agencies from 3:00 p.m. to midnight.
The operation hosted by the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station and the City of Adelanto was deemed a success with over 60 arrests being made. Arrests were made for charges including arrest warrants, parole and probation violations and possession of narcotics and firearms. According to the Sheriff’s press release there was an arrest made for possession of Marijuana for the purpose of sale. Several buckets of processed Marijuana were recovered during the operation. One suspect, who was arrested for the possession of the stolen vehicle, lead deputies on a short pursuit prior to the arrest being made.
San Bernardino County Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH), is a countywide regional gang unit consists of two gang enforcement teams working to crack down on gang activity. Teams consist of Sheriff’s, Probation Officers and the California Highway Patrol. Although the focus is on gang activity, the nature of the arrests made by the SMASH teams vary. According to the Sheriff’s Department the teams conduct 1 to 3 operations on a monthly basis within the valley and desert areas of the San Bernardino County.
