VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Firefighters with IAFF Local 935 raised over $14,000 for The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in just two days.
The annual “Fill the Boot” event took place on the weekend of June 30 – July 1, 2018, at busy intersections surrounding the Mall of Victor Valley on Bear Valley Road in Victorville. On-duty crews and off-duty members were joined by fire explorers from the Victor Valley, as well as by members of the professional wildland fire hand crew, Old Cajon, based in Glen Helen.
Money raised from the annual fundraiser will go towards family support groups, educational seminars, assistance with medical equipment and of course sending kids to MDA summer camp, where they make lifelong memories and friends.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association events are only fundraisers fully endorsed by the International Association of Firefighters; last year the IAFF reported that 100,000-plus firefighters participated in a “Fill the Boot” event nationwide.

Your County Firefighters respond to over 20,000 emergencies in the city of Victorville annually and thank each one of our citizens for making the MDA fill the boot a success in this city,” stated San Bernardino County Fire Captain Jeff Allen.
