Over 1000 SCE Customers Lose Power After a Phelan Traffic Collision

PHELAN-(VVNG.com): Over 1300 customers lost power on Saturday evening when a vehicle crashed into a pole Southern California Edison officials said. The traffic collision occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Baldy Mesa road just east of Phelan road.

A green pickup truck driven by a female left the roadway and consequently plowed into the power pole causing the pole to collapse and overturn. According to California Highway Patrol incident logs, Baldy Mesa road was shut down in both directions just north of Phelan road.

Power was quickly restored to the traffic lights and majority of residents had power restored by 9:30 p.m.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision. Alcohol or speed are not believed to be a factor in this collision.

At this time through preliminary investigations it is believed that the driver reached for something in her vehicle temporarily taking her eyes off of the roadway, causing a temporary distraction leading to the crash.
