EL MIRAGE, Calif. (VVNG.com) –– One person was found dead after a residential structure fire broke out late Sunday night in El Mirage, according to San Bernardino County Fire.
Fire crews responded at 9:20 p.m. on April 5, 2026, to multiple reports of a residential structure fire in the 5200 block of El Mirage Road, near Hacienda Road.
The first-arriving engine company found a single-story, single-family home with about 25% of the structure on fire. Firefighters began an interior fire attack while also conducting a primary search for anyone inside the residence.
During that search, crews located one adult inside the home. Despite what the department described as rapid rescue efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further, limiting additional damage to the home.
A total of three engines, one water tender, one battalion chief, and one fire investigator responded to the incident.
No firefighters were reported injured. One civilian was transported to a local hospital for a non-fire-related medical emergency.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Fire Office of the Fire Marshal in coordination with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The identity of the deceased has not been released.
San Bernardino County Fire said it extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by the loss.
