One of Jackie and Shadow’s Chicks Passes Away After Severe Winter Storm in Big Bear Valley

BIG BEAR, Calif. (VVNG.com) – In a heartbreaking update for eagle enthusiasts and followers of the Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam, it has been reported that one of Jackie and Shadow’s chicks did not survive the severe winter storm that struck the area, dumping over two feet of snow.

The chick’s passing occurred sometime after all three were observed together during a feeding session at 6 p.m. on March 13. The specific cause of death is unknown, and it remains unclear which of the two remaining chicks passed, as they were very similar in size.

However, the passing was confirmed after the snow berm surrounding the nest began to melt, leaving the chick partially visible in the nest bowl on the right side.
