UPDATE: One Dead After Fawnskin Plane Crash

FAWNSKIN – (VVNG.com): A plane crash occurred just before 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 20, 2014 in a recreation area of Big Bear Lake. The plane crashed in the dry lake bed (known as Grout Bay) near Grout Bay picnic area, x/North Shore Dr., Fawnskin.

This accident is the second in four days which caused injury to three occupants.

Firefighters from Station 96 were able to reach the pilot quickly, however the adult male pilot and sole occupant had already succumbed to his injuries. The pilot had taken off from the Big Bear Airport. It is unknown where the pilot was enroute to.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, the National Transportation Bureau and the Federal Aviation Administration. The San Bernardino County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased once proper notification has been made.
