Officials ID Hesperia Man Found Dead Near Motorcycle

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) The man who was found dead near his crashed motorcycle has been identified by officials as 51-year-old Jim Leroy Johnson, of Hesperia.

On Sunday, July 23, at about 6:20 am, a passing motorist on Rock Springs Road encountered the scene of the crash in the Mojave River Wash, west of Deep Creek Road.

The driver stopped to check on Johnson and immediately called 911. First responders arrived and pronounced Johnson deceased at the scene.

Based on preliminary reports, Johnson was traveling eastbound on Rock Springs Road when for unknown reasons he lost control and crossed over the roadway where it begins to curve. Jim’s bike was launched over the shoulder and into the wash where he landed after being thrown from the bike.

“Jim Leroy Johnson was nothing short of genuine; he is my father and best friend. He could brighten a whole room with nothing expected in return,” Devon Johnson wrote in a Go Fund Me account for his father.

“His passing was unexpected and tragic in the worst way, but also the way I’m sure he would have wanted to go… on his Harley,” his son stated.

A Gofundme account has been set up to help raise money for funeral expenses and to set aside in a trust for Jim’s youngest son who is 12-years-old.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Victorville CHP Division.
