HESPERIA, Calif.( The San Bernardino Coroner’s office has identified the woman killed in Thursday night’s crash as Carrie Sutherland, 45, a resident of Oak Hills.

On May 11, 2017, at 7:41 p.m.  the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Communications Division received notification of a traffic accident at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Olive Street, in Hesperia.

Upon arrival, they located a 2000 Honda Accord and a 2014 Dodge Challenger with major damage blocking the intersection.

The driver of the Honda, Carrie Sutherland, was transported to Desert Valley Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries as a result of the collision, at 8:24 p.m.

The male driver of the Dodge was transported to Arrowhead Regional Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Through investigation, authorities determined the Honda was traveling westbound on Olive Street and the Dodge was traveling northbound on Maple Avenue.

“The Honda pulled out in front of the Challenger and got broadsided,” stated Deputy Eric Getts.

According to Deputy Getts, Sutherland had just left a friend’s house, located less than a mile away and was on her way to the store when the fatal accident occurred.
