NWS issues high wind warning ;Snow headed for local mountains

VICTOR VALLEY (VVNG.com) — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory impacting the Victor Valley starting Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.

According to the NWS, a cold low pressure system from the north will bring periods of snow showers and strong gusty winds into Monday evening at about 6:00 pm.

Temperatures are expected to be in the low 60’s with southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and increasing to 30 to 40 mph in the afternoon. “Winds could gusts as high as 60 mph,” NWS officials said.

Our local mountain communities in the higher elevations have a chance of snow showers after 10pm.

Areas such as the Cajon Pass and the foothills will experience the strongest gust. The strong winds will make travel for high-profile vehicles extra difficult. Areas with blowing dust and sand may experience reduced visibility to near-zero in a few locations.

Motorist are advised to take extra precautions.
