No injuries reported after SUV slams into utility pole Saturday night in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — No injuries were reported after an SUV lost control and crashed into a utility pole Saturday night in Hesperia.

It happened at on August 31, 2019, at about 8:49 pm in the area of Mariposa Avenue and Live Oak Street.

For reasons still unknown, the driver of the white Suburban lost control of the SUV and crashed into a wooden utility pole. The impact caused the pole to completely snap in half with one portion landing on the roof of the vehicle.

The occupants of the SUV were visibly shaken up but not injured.

The crash caused fiber-optic lines to hang low and linemen with the cable/internet companies responded to assist with the repairs.

According to the Southern California Edison outage website, a total of 257 customers were affected and power was restored by 2:00 am.

Alcohol/drugs are not believed to be a factor in this crash. The Hesperia Sheriff’s Station is handling the investigation.
