APPLE VALLEY-(VVNG.COM): The town of Apple Valley, in order to insure the safety of their residents, has installed a traffic light on Bear Valley Road where it intersects with Mohawk Road. Town Engineer, Brad Miller said that the signal was still under construction on Thursday, June 11th and should be complete sometime during the late afternoon to early evening.
“This is now being placed following of many years of planning. Due to the accident history and traffic in the area, the placement qualified for Federal funding,” said Miller.
Residents should not expect any additional delays due to the newly placed traffic signal since the light is has a very sophisticated timing program that is based on traffic volume and will not stop traffic unless it has to.
“It has a built-in delay that sensitive to what the traffic volume is,” added Miller.
Prior to placement of this signal there was no safe pedestrian crossing in the 2 mile stretch of Bear Valley road Kiowa and Navajo roads.
“During my time there, I was surprised with the traffic both vehicle and pedestrian,” said Miller. Although not all Apple Valley residents welcome the change, many warrants, including several collisions, made it a good idea to place the new signal at the location.
