Murder Suspect Harold Phillips Arrested in San Jose Following Victorville Galleria Shooting
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 34-year-old man wanted for murder at the Victorville Galleria Mall was arrested in San Jose, officials said.
On Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 3:21 p.m., deputies responded to the Galleria also known as the indoor swapmeet, in the 14500 block of Palmdale Road, for a report of shots fired inside the location.
Deputies arrived and discovered a male subject, identified as 51-year-old Guy Taylor, a resident of Victorville, had been shot. Deputies attempted life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived, however, Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation.
“Through investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Harold Phillips, Jr., and learned there was a physical altercation between Phillips and Taylor when the shooting occurred. Phillips was not located, and an arrest warrant for murder was issued,” stated sheriff’s officials in a written statement.
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the United States Marshals Office located Phillips in San Jose. Phillips was arrested for his warrant without incident and booked in at the Santa Clara County Jail.
Phillips was later transported to the West Valley Detention Center where he remains in custody without bail.
