Multiple people shot and killed at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas

EL PASO, Texas — A 21-year-old gunman shot and killed multiple people at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas Saturday morning.
At about 10:00 am El Paso time deputies were dispatched to Walmart at Gateway and Hawkins located in the Cielo Vista Mall following reports of an active shooter.
During a press conference, police confirmed there were multiple victims and several people were transported to area hospitals.
According to media reports, at least 18 people were shot and 10 people were killed.
The shooter was said to have opened fire outside before walking inside the store, including local children and adults that were near the entrance selling water as part of a fundraiser.
Graphic cell phone video of what appeared to be taken outside the Walmart showed several people down in the parking lot and near the entrance.
It’s unknown how many of the injured were wounded by gunfire or injured as they fled from stores.
At least two children ages 2 and 9 were taken to El Paso Central Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials confirmed they have one person in custody and don’t believe any others are outstanding.
According to a tweet from reporter Anna Giaritelli, the shooter was identified as Patrick Crusius of Dallas and he just turned 21 years old this week.
A motive for the shooting or the identity of the suspect has not been released.
This is a developing story and additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
Reminder: Texas law allows the open carry of semiautomatic rifles and does not require a background check, training or an age limit. Walmart also allows open carry.
