HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The California Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision on the Interstate 15 North, just north of Main Street, Monday.
During the initial collision, a semi-truck and a sedan collided, blocking lane #1 and leading to the involvement of several vehicles during the course of the crash.
At 3:08 PM, reports of the collision prompted a complete halt of all traffic lanes.
Subsequent updates indicated that one of the vehicles involved was speeding prior to the collision, leading to a collision with the rear of the semi-truck and resulting in a spin-out into the center divider.
The white sedan bore significant front-end damage due to the collision. Additionally, a BMW sustained front-end damage after becoming involved in the collision.
Luis Ortiz captured the aftermath of the collision on cellphone footage. In the short video clip, five cars were observed blocking the #1 lanes, with several individuals navigating the scene.
Furthermore, Ortiz commented, “There’s a tractor-trailer in the breakdown lane, kind of blocking the slow lane. Everyone is merging to one lane in the middle,” as reported to VVNG.
By 3:24 PM, a towing service had been summoned to clear the blocked lane.
At the scene, at least one person reported injuries. Emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department were present, assessing the situation and providing assistance.
Following the collision, traffic speeds along the northbound 15 freeway decelerated to approximately 4 miles per hour, causing a backlog at Oak Hill Road. Speeds remained low until around 1.2 miles before Bear Valley Road, when normal freeway speeds resumed.
The California Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation and urges caution in the area as efforts are made to resolve the incident and restore traffic flow on the I15 North.
