VVNG- I am allergic to popcorn. The person next to me was cutting onions. There was a kid behind me kicking the seat and when I turned around to tell her to stop, she squeezed a lemon right in my eyes!… Those are just a few excuses I suggest you have ready for when you finish watching this movie and someone asks you why your eyes look like you poured tabasco in them (ooh, that’s another good one). Why? Because I double dog dare ya not to cry while watching this heartwarming and hilarious movie that shows you how there are so many kiddos who are unfairly in the Foster Care system and how all they want is to be loved.

Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne star as Pete and Ellie, a couple who decide to foster a child when they realize how many kids are in need of a loving home. They agree to take in a 15-year-old girl and her 2 siblings, and of course, drama and hilarity ensue as we get to see all of them try to go from strangers to loving family.

I give Instant Family, the “Checky™ Seal of Approval!” The sniffling was almost as loud as the laughing in the theater I was watching this in. I loved how this movie realistically gives us a glimpse of every aspect of the Foster Care system. It shows how downright grueling the whole process can be, but also how extraordinarily rewarding it must feel to provide kids, who have lost and suffered so much, with the love and attention they need and most definitely deserve.  There are so many laugh-out-loud moments in this movie but there are just as many heartbreaking ones. It doesn’t matter how many layers of clothing you are wearing when you go watch this powerfully moving comedy, because this movie will get through everything that is in front of it to reach your heart so it can repeatedly punch it until it turns you into a weeping, sniffling, hot mess (I think that’s how you use hot mess).

So grab your waterproof makeup and go check this movie out in the big screen with your whole family.  Just make sure to keep your hands and feet within the perimeter of your seat as you take this emotional rollercoaster, and remember to have your excuses ready when someone notices that your eyes look extremely shiny.

What did you think of Instant Family? Do you agree or disagree with me? Which flick are you checking out this week? Let me know in the comments below. Have a great day at the movies and don’t forget to save me some popcorn.

Official Synopsis: When Pete and Ellie decide to start a family, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption. They hope to take in one small child, but when they meet three siblings, including a rebellious 15-year-old girl, they find themselves speeding from zero to three kids overnight. Now, Pete and Ellie must try to learn the ropes of instant parenthood in the hope of becoming a family.
