VVNG- Never in a million years would I ever dare tell Wonder Woman to get out of the way or move over; however, I would ask her to scooch over a tiny bit, in the nicest, most polite way possible, to make room for Captain Marvel, a new female superhero badass that’s just as inspiring and powerful as she is. Captain Marvel, a.k.a Carol Danvers, is a strong, resilient, booty kicking, super-person who is a great example for anyone who needs inspiration whenever they need to overcome something seemingly impossible.
Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is a Kree warrior living on a planet in a distant galaxy who keeps getting flashbacks of a life she once had on Earth. But she needs to put her amnesia problems on the backburner when she arrives to our globe because there are shapeshifting-aliens, called Skrulls, she needs to stop before they invade our Blue Planet. Luckily, our hero is perfect for the task since she is known as someone who never gives up, no matter what she’s up against.
I give Captain Marvel, the “Checky™ Seal of Approval!” I loved just about everything in this newest Marvel Cinematic Universe origin story. Especially Captain Marvel herself. Her attitude, her confidence, her unapologetic cockiness, her crazy cool mohawk, her powers, her stunning suit, and most of all, her tenacity and perseverance all make her an immensely likable and inspiring hero we can all look up to.
Even though this movie might not be the best Marvel movie ever, there is plenty of silly humor, beautifully choreographed action, fantastic special effects, tons of twists and surprises, a nostalgic ‘90s-style chase sequence, an adorably deceptive kitty, and a touching tribute to Stan Lee (that had everyone in the theater cheering), to make this film highly enjoyable.
This flick isn’t just a delicious appetizer for you to munch on before the upcoming Avengers: Endgame feast. It is a perfectly satisfying entree you should enjoy at the cinema with your whole family. You will surely have a great time watching our motivational hero handing out butt-whoopings to bad guys while sporting a mohawk in the magical time of the ’90s when video rental shops, Gameboys, electronic stores, pagers, and dial-up internet still existed.
Oh, and you should stay for the first end-credit scene because it is great!… The second one is unnecessary and not worth waiting for.
What did you think of Captain Marvel? Do you agree or disagree with me? Which flick are you checking out this week? Let me know in the comments below. Have a great day at the movies and don’t forget to save me some popcorn.
