VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) A motorist knocked out power to the Victorville CHP Station and surrounding locations after crashing into a power pole early Thursday morning.

It happened at about 1:09 a.m. on the 14200 block of Amargosa Road north of Civic Drive.

According to a Sergeant with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of a 2007 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Amargosa Road, when, for reasons under investigation, the driver lost control and crashed into a power pole, completely shearing it at the base.

The Corolla came to stop after crashing into a second utility pole across the street from the CHP office.

As a result of the down lines, northbound lanes of Amargosa Road was closed between Civic Drive and West Sage.

Edison responded and is working to repair the pole and to restore power.
