PHELAN, CA:(VVNG.com)– A 41-year-old Victorville man was killed while riding his motorcycle on Sheep Creek Road Monday morning.
According to CHP officials, a 33-year-old Phelan man in Toyota pickup truck was traveling northbound on Sheep Creek Road approaching the intersection of Cactus Road. He slowed to make a left turn onto Cactus Road.
The rider of the motorcycle was northbound on Sheep Creek Road, behind the pickup at speeds over 55 mph. The rider of the motorcycle moved to the southbound lane of Sheep Creek Road in order to pass the pickup, just as the pickup began its left turn.
As the pickup was in the southbound lane, and perpendicular to Sheep Creek Road in the midst of his turn, the motorcycle struck the left side of the pickup truck.
The rider of the motorcycle, who was wearing a D.O.T. approved full face helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle, landing in the desert to the northwest of the intersection of Sheep Creek Road and Cactus Road sustaining fatal injuries.
The driver of the pickup was uninjured. Drugs or alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this collision.
The identity of the motorcycle rider is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Coroner’s office.
