Motorcyclist killed on Highway 18 near Crest Forest Drive

CRESTLINE, Calif. ( — A motorcyclist died in a crash over the weekend on Highway 18 near Crest Forest Drive, coroner officials confirmed.

It happened on Saturday, April 20, 2019, just before 8:00 pm, when California Highway Patrol Officers and San Bernardino County Firefighters were dispatched to a single-vehicle motorcycle collision in Crestline.

Upon arrival, they located a white 2015 Ducati 1299 motorcycle with two people down in the roadway.

The driver, a 38-year-old male from San Bernardino CA was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, Gladys Guevara, a 29-year-old female resident of Colton CA, was critically injured and transported by ground ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

According to a CHP news release, the Ducati was traveling northbound in the no. 2 lane at an undetermined speed. The driver was attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway when for reasons still unknown, he lost control of the bike, causing both riders to be ejected, officials said.

The name of the male is being withheld pending the family notification.

CHP Officer Nitto is investigating the crash and it’s unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in the collision.
