Motorcyclist killed on Amethyst Road in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A motorcycle rider was killed after he was struck by a vehicle on Amethyst Road in Victorville Friday night.

The crash was reported at about 10:30 pm just north of Liberty Park in front of the San Bernardino County Fire Station on the 13000 block of Amethyst Road.

Firefighters arrived on scene within seconds after hearing the crash and pronounced the male rider deceased on scene.

The fiancé of the motorcycle rider had arrived moments after the crash happened and witnessed her companion laying on the ground.

Preliminary reports indicate the rider’s motorcycle, a 1985 Honda VF1100C Magna V65, had become disabled in the street. Authorities said the rider was pushing his disabled motorcycle in the no. 1 northbound lane of Amethyst Road when a 2003 Toyota Avalon also in the northbound no. 1 lane struck the motorcycle and rider.

Following the impact, the vehicle came to rest in the southbound lanes.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. Police say drugs or alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

Amethyst Road will remain closed for several hours between Allegro Lane and Dry Creek Road while deputies investigate.

The Victorville Police Department is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Sheriff’s Dispatch at 760-241-2911.
