Motorcyclist killed in Cajon Pass crash Thursday morning

CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday morning in the Cajon Pass.

At approximately 6:43 am, a male rider was on a 1996 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on the I-15 north of SR-138, at an unknown speed and unknown lane.

“For reasons still under investigation, the rider lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the roadway,” stated CHP officials in a press release.

“After the collision, the motorcycle caught fire and became fully engulfed. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the #4 lane of I-15.”

Emergency personnel pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The identity of the rider is pending identification of the San Bernardino County Coroner.

The number three, four, and five lanes of the freeway were closed during the investigation. A Sig alert was issued.
