VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) Chet Govan, age 50 of Victorville, was identified as the motorcyclist who died after crashing Saturday evening near the Mall of the Victor Valley.
On April 29, 2017 at 1:24 p.m., Govan was traveling northbound on Amargosa Road on his newly purchased Black Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle near the Red Lobster restaurant.
Govan lost control as he was completing the left-hand curve of the roadway causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle.
Both he and the bike struck the guard rail causing major injuries to Govan and causing the bike to break apart in two separate pieces.
Govan was found to be unconscious and was transported by ground ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital where he died from his injuries shortly after.
According to Govan’s Facebook profile, he purchased the bike on April 1st and was new to riding.
Several family members reacted to Gavon’s post regarding his purchase of the bike urging him to be safe.
Amargosa Road was closed between Bear Valley Road and Mall Boulevard while Deputies from the Region II MAIT division conducted the investigation.
